For years, the first step to getting online at IU was registering your device’s MAC address on the network. Students took care of this by running Get Connected—software that configured personal computers to meet IU’s baseline standards for security and network connectivity. Faculty and staff, on the other hand, typically registered devices with IU’s DHCP service.
Starting May 10, MAC registration will no longer be required for network access. Instead, users can select “IU StartHere” from the list of available Wi-Fi networks and run the new IU Secure Setup Tool. The program will quickly configure a new user profile and automatically connect the device to IU Secure.
Note: The “IU StartHere” SSID is not the only way to access the IU Secure Setup Tool. You can also download it from IUware >>
